Course: Core Course Code: SJZ-AS-ZPM-OP02 Course Credits: 6 ECTS Course Organizer: Vesna Bjegović Offered: fall-winter 2008/2009 Offered by: Centre-School of Public Health | Description: The module is explaining the basic challenges and specificities of health management. Management tools are interpreted through essential activities in planning, organizing, staffing, leadership and control. Students are empowered to accept critical application of different approaches and specific managerial skills and responsibilities in health sector. The importance of strategic and operational management is stressed. The sessions will explore the managerial/ organizational issues and challenges facing modern health organization, which strive to use evidence in the process leading towards accomplishment of goals (management of change, projects management and total quality management). Students will learn how to manage health programmes at national and local level through six-step process: priority setting, establishing goals, outcome objectives, strategy, evaluation and budget. They will also accept and demonstrate the skills of health management team building, consensus development, problem solving, decision making, motivation and communication.
